For non-Apple users, the Easycard Wallet app can be used for everything from buying stuff with a virtual Easycard, renting YouBikes or beeping in and out of the MRT. See my previous post here!
If you’re going through the change (not the menopause, the shift to the new ARC format), you might wonder how to update to your various YouBike related apps to the new format.
First step is to take a photo of the front and back of your new ARC on your phone, so that you can upload when prompted.
On the Easycard Wallet, hit the 其他 button on the bottom right:
Click 「客戶服務」 (client services):
Then click the little chat icon:
This is actually an AI tool, so after you’ve confirmed you want to leave the app to navigate to the website (確認) and agreed with the terms of service (tick the circle and confirm again)) to get chatting to a real person, you’ll have to type 「真人」(real person) in the dialogue box:
Then, you just click on the link in blue 「是,我要接文字客服」 and you’ll get a real person typing on the other end.
You’ll either be put straight through, in which case you’ll get a message with their English name and if you don’t know enough Chinese, at this point, you can just type something like:
「我的門號是 0955444333,我需要更新我的居留證證號,新的居留證照片如附,請查收。」
Then click the little icon to upload the photos of the front and back of your ARC. It’s important that you don’t click out of the dialog box, or you’ll likely go to the back of the queue.
You might have to wait in a queue, and they’ll tell you what number you are in the queue. It’s important that you don’t click out of the dialog box, and don’t type the message above until you get a message that you’re no longer in the queue.
After they acknowledge receipt, you can just click out of the box and you should receive a text message within a few days telling you whether or not your efforts were successful. The change should apply to all your EasyCard accounts and apps.
This might resolve any problems you’ve had trying to link your bank accounts to the app and allowing you to top up.
